eBay Is Launching an Online Shop Dedicated to Female Superhero Collectibles
With the arrival of Captain Marvel in theaters this March and a sequel to Wonder Woman set for release next year, female superhero movies are having a long-overdue moment. But super girls and women have been around for a while, as decades worth of action figures and comic books prove. Now eBay is making it easy to find all your super-powered women memorabilia in one place: Starting March 6, the online marketplace is launching its first shop dedicated to female superheroes.
A collaboration between eBay, comic book writer Gail Simone, and illustrator Cat Staggs, Superheroine HQ features thousands of collectibles for sale. Shoppers will find figurines depicting characters like Harley Quinn, Sailor Moon, Shuri, and Jean Grey, as well as posters and trading cards.
The store also has ultra-rare comics, like a copy of Wonder Woman #1 CGC 8.9 for sale for $149,950, and a copy of Ms. Marvel #1 CGC 9.8 signed by Stan Lee for $4000. If you're looking for something more affordable, Superheroine HQ is also offering an eBay-exclusive edition of Captain Marvel Braver And Mightier #1 with a variant cover for $6.
The success of the movie Wonder Woman (2017) and the excitement around Captain Marvel has boosted interest in female superhero collectibles in recent years. In 2017, a rare Wonder Woman comic sold for nearly $1 million on eBay, and according to the site, sales for Captain Marvel products have spiked by 63 percent.
