Warning: Game of Thrones spoilers ahead!

Since the finale of Game of Thrones aired, fans have been very open about their mixed opinions on it, even making up their own endings and coming up with more fan theories. But some are looking toward George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire book series to see if Bran Stark's fate was actually hidden in its pages all along, as Collider reports.

According to Bran himself—actor Isaac Hempstead Wright—the book series might actually end with Bran becoming King of the Six Kingdoms as well. In his Making of Game of Thrones interview for HBO, the actor revealed that Martin told Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss about two major Bran-related plot points: The "Hold the door" scene, and Bran ultimately becoming king.

“David and Dan told me there were two things George R.R. Martin had planned for Bran, and that was the Hodor revelation, and that he would be king," Hempstead Wright shared. "So that’s pretty special to be directly involved in something that is part of George’s vision. It was a really nice way to wrap it up."

But considering that stories don't always work out how you imagine them, there's really no way to know if Bran will end up being crowned king in Martin's books. It's worth pointing out that Martin has been writing the sixth book in the series, The Winds of Winter, for eight years, so it's quite possible that his ideas for the books have changed during that time.

The author has addressed whether or not the ending of the show would affect how he ends his series, although his answer wasn't too telling. "How will it all end? I hear people asking," Martin wrote on his blog. "The same ending as the show? Different? Well … yes. And no. And yes. And no. And yes. And no. And yes."

We'll just have to wait for the books to come out to know for sure. The Winds of Winter is scheduled to be released in 2020, but readers of the series won't believe it until the new book is in their hands.
